The Spirit of America Experience

Spirit of America Youth Leadership is a 4-day residential program that engages high school students from across the country with the first principles of freedom. The experience focuses on leadership development and civic education. It includes a mock congressional debate, free enterprise challenge, workshops, and historical site visits.

Any Sacramento area high school student is eligible to apply, however presence is given to juniors.

Our sponsorship includes round-trip air fare as well as tuition and room and board at Freedoms Foundation’s campus in Valley Forge.

The Spirit of America program dates for 2024 are:

April 4- 7 & April 18-21

2024 SOA Application Instructions

Completed student applications are due by midnight on November 1, 2023.

Student Application: This takes just a few minutes and should be done as soon as possible to get your application process started;

Parent/Guardian Consent:  Your parent or guardian must complete the Parent/Guardian Consent form which will be sent to them upon receipt of your application.

The final requirement to complete your application is to submit an Essay by Dec. 1, 2023 – Essay Submission

Participation in these Freedoms Foundation programs will enhance your likelihood of being accepted into the program.

Youth Essay Requirements

The SOA Essay topic is: With so much diverse information available, how can you become an informed citizen and make an impact on our nation’s political life even before you are eligible to vote?

Essay Guidelines

Entries must be typed, double-spaced and contain 500-750 words.

The heading in the top left corner of the first page should contain:

Student’s name

School

Grade level

Teacher’s name
