ESSAY CONTEST
Freedoms Foundation collects compelling essays submitted by students nationwide every year as part of the National Awards Program. The essay contest is open to K-12 students, with the essay topic provided by the Freedoms Foundation. Winners receive a cash prize and automatic consideration for the National Awards. Sacramento Chapter Essay Contest – Grades K-6
The Grades K-6 Divisions’ essay contest topic is:
What are some ways you can work with your family and friends to help keep our country free?Students are encouraged to include personal experiences and/or reference the Bill of Responsibilities in their responses.
Essay Guidleines are:
- Entries must be typed, double-spaced and contain 500-750 words.
- The heading in the top left corner of the first page should contain:
- Student’s name
- School
- Grade level
- Teacher’s name
High School ranges $150-$300
Middle school ranges $50-$100
Essays are due Dec. 1, 2023

● Must be typed, double-spaced, 500-1000 words
● Header in top right must include: Student’s name, School,
Grade Level, Teacher’s name, and Phone Number
● Due December 1, 2023
